Still working on my red and blue Janes...

This is what I'm working on right now... 

it is block B-6, "Wild Goose Chase"

For the most part it is foundation pieced.

I did finish up some blocks as well:

Block B-8, "Water Lily".

I really liked this block, it is traditionally pieced

and the melons are appliqued as last.

Block B-9, "Tinker Toy".

This block can be made using different techniques.

Reverse aplique, English piecing but I decided to traditionally piece 

this one as the pieces were big enough. The HST corners were set in last.

B-10, Jud's Trophy".

Middle section is foundation pieced, and the surrounding 

borders are traditionally pieced

A little wonky but it will do! 

With these 3 blocks my total is now 21 blocks. (only 148 squares to go...LOL)

But.. seeing as we've had 17 weeks this year so far that puts me on average slightly above my goal of 1 block per week, so I can't complain really!!

I'm going to try hard to finish row B by this time next week, so fingers crossed nothing comes up..

Back with Jane

I'm back on track with some more Dear Jane blocks..

First in Row B is called "Batchelor Buttons"

and is reverse appliqued using a freezer paper

template for accurate circles.

Block B-2, for this one I made two pinwheel blocks in
opposite colors.

One block was then cut out in a circle
and appliqued onto the other pinwheel block.

It is called "Sweet Tater Pie".









This is the last block in row B, block 13 called
"Four Corner Press"

What can I say?.. an easy one.
Looks a little wonky in the picture, but it is straight.





Blocks B-6, B-8, B-9 and B-10 are already in the making an hopefully will post them on Sunday. After that only 4 more and row B will be finished. Wonder how long it took Jane to make this quilt??

Busy, busy, busy..

I have been very busy the last few weeks. Between some spring cleaning, having my in-laws visiting for almost 2 weeks and helping my own mother who is now in hospital for a new hip(..to name but a few)...somehow I managed to do some quilting.

I did a little bit of this, some free motion quilting:

The blocks I posted about before are now all together in a quilt, don't want to show too much yet as this is for the OEQC in October but this is a part of it :

And also done some of this, it is hand drawn with a black waterproof marker then colored in with brown

Need to get back to making some more Dear Jane blocks too..some are nearly finished and will post them sometime later this week. Little behind now, but still on my schedule of 1 block per week (..only just though).

A little while ago I was contacted by Elizabeth from Twi-quilters, a blog made by quilters that are dedicated to making quilts related to Twilight.
They had come across my Twilight quilt and asked me if I wanted to be a guest on their blog.

Broken promises..

Plan was to have row A of the Dear Jane finished the end of february but things don't always go as planned.  In my defense though.. I caught a nasty head cold shortly after my last post.  And with all the sneezing, coughing and watery eyes I couldn't get much done.
So this week I have been catching up and this is what I have done so far:

A-11

 "Pebble's Protest" this block is called.
 Partly foundation pieced and partly traditionally
 pieced. Probably the hardest block in row A.
 Turned out ok in the end.

A-12

This one is called "Framed Fancy" and apart 

from the outside triangles it is foundation pieced. 

Pretty straight forward, although

with all the tiny pieces 

and all the bulk of seams not 

so easy to get right.

B-3

A traditionally pieced block.

Four drunkard path blocks. 

Not so difficult, if you don't mind the 

curves that is!

B-4

It is called "Mirror Image".

Another easy one for row B, 

this one is 

called "Chris's Soccer Field", 

and is foundation pieced.

Love the rose in the center!

Blocks B-1 and B-2 are already semi-finished, think row B will take a little quicker than row A, but I shouldn't really say that because if I do something will come up to ruin my plans.

I've also completed my brown blocks that I've showed in my previous post, it got too dark to take a picture, so I'll show you it next time!

Just a quicky..

A quick update of what I have been up to this week..


Luckily there was no snow and ice last Friday so me and my friend Joke went to the "Handwerkbeurs"(home crafts fair) in Zwolle as planned.
It was very busy and there were lots of stands with anything from knitting to quilting to embroidery.
Seen lots of nice quilts and we came home full of new ideas and inspiration.

Found some nice reds and blues for my Dear Jane, the browns and greens and creams are for a table runner I'll be making later this year.

Got one block done for the Dear Jane, this is called "Starlight-Starbright".
This one was all traditionally pieced.
Row A is nearly finished now with only two more blocks to go, which I plan do this coming week.










I have started on my new project and have been busy making some of these little blocks...

Weekly update

A-9

What have I been up to this past week?


well...I made 2 more blocks for my Dear Jane quilt. Row A is nearly done. Think I'll stick to doing one row at a time.


This one is called "Cabin Fever", and is foundation pieced (41 pieces). I really like this block, think it would also look great in a larger size block/quilt.

A-10

This one is called "Which Points West?".
I reversed appliqued the center melon, then added the thin white borders to the blue square. The blue points were sewn to the white outer borders first and then added to the center square, and as last the curved sides of the blue points were appliqued in place.

Will have to see if I can get some more red and blue fabrics next friday when we go to the home crafts fair in Zwolle. (weather permitting, they are forecasting snow again...)

Furthermore I have completed the top for my Happy Hearts BOM quilt. I love the blue..
Will have to sandwich it next so I can quilt it, think I'll quilt it by machine and not by hand..
