Tutorial Block with Inset Triangle

Hier een kleine "tutorial", deze is voor iedereen die meedoet aan de Sterren Blok van de Maand.
Het is makkelijker om via foto's te laten zien hoe we het blokje maken met "het hapje eruit" dan om het te beschrijven.
De werkwijze die ik hier laat zien is het patchen met de hand maar dit kan ook eenvoudig aangepast worden naar patchen met de machine.

Here is a small tutorial for all who are participating in the Stars Block of the Month.
Through these pictures I will show you how to make the blocks with the inset triangles.
The method shown below is patching by hand, however it can also easily be done by machine.

Teken een vierkant van 10x10cm op de verkeerde kant van de stof.

First mark a 4x4 inch square on the wrong side of your fabric.

 Tip: Maak een vouw in de stof daar waar en hoe je het hoekje wilt vervangen.

Tip: Fold the corner over where and how you want to place your triangle.

Teken een lijn daar waar de vouw ligt, en teken daarnaast je naadbreedte af (stippellijn). Knip het hoekje vervolgens af op deze stippellijn.

Draw a line on the fold and another one a quarter inch next to that, this is your seam allowance (dotted line). Then cut off the excess fabric on the dotted line.

Knip een stuk stof iets groter dan het afgeknipte hoekje.

Cut a piece of fabric larger than the corner you just cut off.

Leg de stoffen met de goede kanten tegen elkaar en naai deze op de getekende lijn aan elkaar.

Place the two fabrics right sides together and sew on the drawn line.

Teken het vierkant verder bij op het nieuwe stukje stof tot het weer 10x10 cm is en knip de overtollige stof weg. 

Trim the excess fabric off and continue to draw your square on to the new corner so it is once again 4x4 inch square.

Even strijken en je blokje met "het hapje eruit" is klaar.

Op deze manier kun je heel makkelijk varieren met de grootte van "het hapje" en zo hoef je niet telkens voor ieder blokje een nieuwe mal te maken.

Iron and now your block with the inset triangle is done.

This is an easy way to freely vary the size of the inset triangle without the use of a new template for each block.
