Remember this quilt?


A little while ago I was contacted by Elizabeth from Twi-quilters, a blog made by quilters that are dedicated to making quilts related to Twilight.
They had come across my Twilight quilt and asked me if I wanted to be a guest on their blog.

Broken promises..

Plan was to have row A of the Dear Jane finished the end of february but things don't always go as planned.  In my defense though.. I caught a nasty head cold shortly after my last post.  And with all the sneezing, coughing and watery eyes I couldn't get much done.
So this week I have been catching up and this is what I have done so far:

A-11

 "Pebble's Protest" this block is called.
 Partly foundation pieced and partly traditionally
 pieced. Probably the hardest block in row A.
 Turned out ok in the end.

A-12

This one is called "Framed Fancy" and apart 

from the outside triangles it is foundation pieced. 

Pretty straight forward, although

with all the tiny pieces 

and all the bulk of seams not 

so easy to get right.

B-3

A traditionally pieced block.

Four drunkard path blocks. 

Not so difficult, if you don't mind the 

curves that is!

B-4

It is called "Mirror Image".

Another easy one for row B, 

this one is 

called "Chris's Soccer Field", 

and is foundation pieced.

Love the rose in the center!

Blocks B-1 and B-2 are already semi-finished, think row B will take a little quicker than row A, but I shouldn't really say that because if I do something will come up to ruin my plans.

I've also completed my brown blocks that I've showed in my previous post, it got too dark to take a picture, so I'll show you it next time!

Just a quicky..

A quick update of what I have been up to this week..


Luckily there was no snow and ice last Friday so me and my friend Joke went to the "Handwerkbeurs"(home crafts fair) in Zwolle as planned.
It was very busy and there were lots of stands with anything from knitting to quilting to embroidery.
Seen lots of nice quilts and we came home full of new ideas and inspiration.

Found some nice reds and blues for my Dear Jane, the browns and greens and creams are for a table runner I'll be making later this year.

Got one block done for the Dear Jane, this is called "Starlight-Starbright".
This one was all traditionally pieced.
Row A is nearly finished now with only two more blocks to go, which I plan do this coming week.










I have started on my new project and have been busy making some of these little blocks...

Weekly update

A-9

What have I been up to this past week?


well...I made 2 more blocks for my Dear Jane quilt. Row A is nearly done. Think I'll stick to doing one row at a time.


This one is called "Cabin Fever", and is foundation pieced (41 pieces). I really like this block, think it would also look great in a larger size block/quilt.

A-10

This one is called "Which Points West?".
I reversed appliqued the center melon, then added the thin white borders to the blue square. The blue points were sewn to the white outer borders first and then added to the center square, and as last the curved sides of the blue points were appliqued in place.

Will have to see if I can get some more red and blue fabrics next friday when we go to the home crafts fair in Zwolle. (weather permitting, they are forecasting snow again...)

Furthermore I have completed the top for my Happy Hearts BOM quilt. I love the blue..
Will have to sandwich it next so I can quilt it, think I'll quilt it by machine and not by hand..

Cute distraction...

Can anyone resist a cute distraction like this when you are trying to get some work done...???

A quick Dear Jane update

I'm on a roll..made 2 more Dear Jane blocks.
Total blocks is now 8, which averages to 2 blocks per week..

A-2

This one is called "One-Two Buckle my shoe" and it is foundation pieced.

There are 40 pieces in this tiny block!
..and the bulk of seams at the back makes it very tricky.

I'm making these blocks by hand and I must say after this block my left wrist was a little sore..

A-3

This one is called "Hunters Moon", and has normal applique as well as reverse applique.

Relatively easy block, but still takes some time to get it all lined up correctly..

Note to myself, must remember to make the outside seams slightly bigger on all of the blocks, better to crop them afterwards than having a block that is too small!!

Slowly but surely..

 

While outside is cold and snowing (again), I'm working on the last 3 blocks of the BOM Happy Hearts.  (I know.. can never seem to finish one before starting a new one, but I bet I'm not the only one here ;) )


The stitchery on block 12 is finished, still need to applique a heart to block 11 and then sew all the pieces of the blocks together.

Next wednesday is our next quiltbee meeting (hopefully this time it won't be cancelled due to the snow), don't think I will have the time to sew all 12 blocks together to show the finished top..but we'll see how far we get!!

...at least all the blocks will done by the end of January...like I planned.
